I'm currently creating a new training course about essential IT skills for small businesses, and I'm giving everybody a chance to access the whole course for free. Here's the deal: go to my training page and tell me what skill (or skills) you wish you had. If I use your suggestion in my course, I will send you a free coupon when the course is finished. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want, this offer is not limited to one entry per person!

Do you enjoy being sold to? No, me neither. I'm fed up to the back teeth with groups on social networks that seem to consist only of posts shouting 'Buy my stuff! Buy my stuff!'. I't annoying and it's a waste of my time, so I try my best to avoid groups like that.

Now that can be a little tricky. Fortunately LinkedIn, at least, has a really nifty, but little-known tool that allows you to quickly see if a particular group is more likely to be an active community or a playground for spammers.

In this video you'll learn where to find and use it (it's dead easy, you don't need any technical know-how and there's nothing to install)

Frauke Frauke's love affair with computers started by drooling over the sheer awesomeness of a ZX81 when she was a child. Since then she has owned a Commodore 128, an Amiga, an Acorn RISC PC (would you believe it) and an assortment of more mainstream laptops and PCs. Her love of computers and technology in general led her to obtain two Bachelor's degrees in engineering. She has worked both as a hardware and a software engineer, and has been the managing director of her own IT consultancy, Creative Cats, for 15 years now. She helps small businesses and entrepreneurs with their IT needs, providing hands-on support where needed and training where required. She loves being asked why she decided to become an engineer. To be able to go out wearing a red shirt and survive, of course.
